2000's top headlines

It was an incredible year of stadiums and sports heroes, tragedy, a tornado and racial tension.

In 2000, the Tristate saw the opening of a downtown highway, a race track, a football stadium and a new stomach-flopping roller coaster. Pigs roamed our streets and the downtown's most visible symbol — the Tyler Davidson Fountain — got a head-to-toe makeover. Nordstrom was coming...and then it wasn't. The Bengals got a new coach. The Reds hired a new manager. And neither made it to the playoffs.
