Preseason All-Americans
Second and Third Teams
Second Team
Andre Emmett, F, Texas Tech: Emmett withdrew from the NBA draft, which should make Bob Knight very happy this season.
Arthur Johnson, C, Missouri: Johnson's strength is his strength. He outworks opponents in the post and finishes with finesse.
Blake Stepp, G, Gonzaga: Stepp is a crafty guard who possesses all the tools - leadership, sharp shooting and playmaking ability - to establish his reputation nationwide.
Ben Gordon, G, Connecticut: The perfect complement to Okafor, Gordon is a plus-40 percent career 3-point shooter.
James Thomas, F, Texas: A warrior on the boards, Thomas averaged a double-double last season and has the potential to do even more as a senior.
Third Team
Hakim Warrick, F, Syracuse: Warrick's a high flyer whose offensive game will be on display this season.
Chris Thomas, G, Notre Dame: Thomas is exciting - as long as he takes care of the ball.
Raymond Felton, G, North Carolina: Felton will break out in his sophomore season as a dynamic scoring and passing point guard.
Julius Hodge, F, North Carolina State: Perhaps underrated because North Carolina State is overshadowed in the Atlantic Coast Conference, Hodge often is forced to - and can - carry N.C. State by himself.
David Harrison, C, Colorado: Harrison flirted with the idea of going pro but wisely returned for his junior year.
Freshman to watch
Andrew Lavender, PG, Oklahoma: He's only 5 feet 7, but even if the defense can find him, it might not be able to stop him.
