XU women break into AP Top 25
As fans wondered much of the season why the Xavier women's team was not ranked, coach Melanie Balcomb kept saying she wanted to be in the final poll.
The Musketeers achieved their first-ever ranking in the Associated Press poll Monday when they entered at No.24. XU, 26-4 and the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament champion, was ranked 24th in the final coaches' poll last season.
This is the time of the year you want to be in the top 25, Balcomb said. Preseason polls don't mean a thing.
I'm ecstatic. Obviously it's great for our program. It's great to see we're starting to get some exposure and national recognition from the media.
