Wednesday, September 13, 2000XU women to face four tourney teams
The Xavier women's basketball team, rated 15th by one Web site, released its schedule Tuesday which includes four games against 2000 NCAA Tournament teams.
“It's the toughest, most competitive schedule we've ever had,” coach Melanie Balcomb said.
“We've got the most experienced team we've ever had, so we went for it in terms of scheduling.”
The Musketeers, returning all five starters from a 26-5 NCAA Tournament team, are rated 15th by womenscollegehoops.com. They begin their Cintas Center tenure Nov. 19 against Sweet 16 returnee Vanderbilt.
Other NCAA teams on the schedule are George Washington, St. Joseph's and Wisconsin-Green Bay. Another highlight is a Feb. 1 home game against Florida State: It features Lakota High grad Brooke Wyckoff, a three-time Team USA selection.
XU has not yet released its men's basketball schedule because it is seeking one more non-conference home game.
