Xavier has completed its men's basketball coaching staff with the addition of Alan Major, 32, who had been an assistant at Pacific for five years.

        Major will be the third assistant and will not go on the road to recruit; John Groce and associate head coach Sean Miller will travel. The other hire was director of basketball operations Bill Comar.

        Major, a 1992 Purdue grad, also had assisted at Southern Illinois and Division III Cal Lutheran.

        “This opportunity is one he couldn't pass up,” Pacific coach Bob Thomason said of Major.
