Xavier women clobber Akron

Shavon Bell scored a career-high 23 points and pulled down a career-high seven rebounds in Xavier's 90-44 win over Akron Monday at the Cintas Center.
All 11 players scored in the victory for the Musketeers (2-0).
Kate Kreager recorded her second career double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Xavier's junior backcourt was sparked by Amy Waugh (13 points, 7 assists) and Reeta Piipari (8 points, 8 assists).
The Zips (0-2) were led by Dominique Harris and Kimberly Larson, who combined for 30 points.
The Musketeers outrebounded Akron 53-30 and outshot the Zips 54.7 percent to 26.6 percent.
Xavier (2-0) will spend Thanksgiving in New England at the University of Maine's Dead Wood River Company Classic. The Musketeers open against Green Bay at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
SIGNINGS:
XU has signed three players: Tara Boothe, a 6-foot-1 guard/forward from Highlands High School who averaged 17 points and nine rebounds last season; 5-8 guard Mandy Geryak from Martinsville (Ind.) High; and 5-10 guard Kristy Wallner of Bemidji (Minn.) Senior High, who averaged 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists. The team still has two more scholarships to give.
