XU women beat Toledo in three OTs




The Associated Press

        The longest game in Xavier history ended in a record-high score for the Musketeers in their 108-95 triple overtime win against Toledo in the Provident Bank Xavier Invitational Sunday.

        The Musketeers opened the third overtime on an 11-0 run, sparked by layups by Shavon Bell and Alexis Henderson.

        After an Amy Waugh 3-pointer with 2:30 to play, Xavier made eight straight free throws to seal the victory.

        Kate Kreager led the team with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Waugh scored 14 of her career-high 26 points in the overtime periods as the Musketeers moved to 4-4.

        XAVIER (108) — Kreager 11-15 5-8 27, Henderson 7-10 5-9 19, Waugh 7-13 7-8 26, Piipari 5-15 5-5 17, Bell 8-13 0-0 18, Wells 0-2 1-2 1. Totals: 38-69 23-34 108.

        TOLEDO (95) — Davis 4-10 6-6 14, Blessing 3-8 0-1 6, Risinger 6-14 3-4 19, Kahle 8-15 0-0 16, Herron 9-17 5-9 24, Brazzle 2-5 2-2 7, Walker 3-6 0-0 7, Hoodendam 1-4 0-0 2. Totals: 36-80 16-22 95.

        Halftime: X 37, T 36. 3-pointers: X 9-23 (Waugh 5, Piipari 2, Bell 2), T 7-20 (Risinger 4, Herron, Brazzle, Walker). Records: X 4-4, T 3-4.
