Xavier coaches handed out awards in nine categories Tuesday night at its annual men's basketball banquet, including the rare step of having the entire team share the Defensive Player of the Year award.

Other winners:
Kevin Frey won both the Connie Brown Most Inspirational Player Award and the Musketeer Award, which goes to the team leader in charges taken.
Alvin Brown and James Baronas shared the Lew Hirt Society Coaches' Award.
David West got the awards for top free throw shooter (76.8 percent) and top rebounder (9.8 avg.).
Lionel Chalmers got the assist leader award (134).
Romain Sato won the Gordon Nead Most Improved Player Award.
Anthony Coleman won the Ernest A. Staak Award, given to the player who best exemplifies the love of the game of the father of former XU coach Bob Staak.
