Tara Boothe played 60 straight minutes in Xavier's 94-92 quadruple-overtime defeat of George Washington on Sunday at Cintas Center.
The freshman left the court thinking of one thing: Sleep.
"During the game, I didn't notice that I was tired because there was so much energy on the court," said Boothe, who had career-highs in points (31) and rebounds (19). "When I went home, I went straight to bed. I think I slept for 10 hours."
It was the ninth time in NCAA Division I women's basketball history that a game was decided in four overtimes. It also was the longest game in Xavier history, for men or women.
No NCAA D-I women's game has gone five OTs.
Seniors Amy Waugh and Reetta Piipari also played 60 minutes, which is the D-I women's record for most minutes played in a game. The three Musketeers, who played 20 minutes beyond regulation, are among eight women who have reached the 60-minute plateau.
Xavier and George Washington combined for 70 points in the four overtimes, nine points shy of the NCAA D-I women's basketball record. Alabama and Duke set the standard, scoring 79 combined points in the Crimson Tide's 121-120 NCAA Tournament win on March 18, 1985.
XU's previous long game was a 108-95 triple-overtime victory over Toledo on Dec. 9, 2001 at Cintas Center. Boothe, who was then playing for Highlands High, can't remember ever playing beyond double OT. Xavier handed George Washington its first Atlantic 10 Conference loss of the season, and the Musketeers (15-7, 7-4 A-10) claimed sole rights to the West Division's No. 2 spot.
Xavier set a team record for most field-goal attempts (86) in a game. Piipari tied a school record for field-goal attempts (25), and hit a 3-pointer with 2:36 left to seal the win.
