Oakland lands in BCA final

Mike Helms scored 27 points and Oakland recovered from a first-half lapse to beat Illinois-Chicago (1-1) 79-66 in Sunday's semifinals.

Helms scored 21 in the second half, leading Oakland (2-0) to the championship game in the eight-team tournament.

Ohio 51, Coppin St. 47

Jaivon Harris scored 17 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead Ohio.

The Bobcats (1-1) never trailed after the first three minutes and overpowered Coppin State (0-2) in the paint, outscoring them 24-14.

UC Irvine 65, San Diego 60

Jeff Gloger scored a game-high 17 points, including four late free throws for 1-1 UC Irvine.

Gloger also led his team with four assists and nine rebounds. Adam Parada added 14 points and four rebounds. San Diego is 0-2.
