Jr.-college guard chooses Muskies

By Dustin Dow
Enquirer staff writer

Redlands (Okla.) Community College point guard Dupree Lucas orally committed to Xavier during his official visit this week, filling the 12th of Xavier's 13 allowed scholarships for the upcoming season.

Lucas' commitment provides insurance in the backcourt for Xavier, which has one returning point guard, junior Dedrick Finn. In addition to Lucas, the Musketeers have incoming freshmen Stanley Burrell and Churchill Odia at guard, but Odia's student visa process and eligibility remain unresolved.

Lucas will join Xavier as a sophomore and will be eligible to play immediately.

He said he plans to begin classes at XU on July 6.
