Xavier coach Sean Miller has hired two lead assistants and retained two members from Thad Matta's staff. Miller has one more assistant to hire.
Miller's top two assistants are former Xavier player and Wake Forest assistant Chris Mack and former Ohio State assistant Monte Mathis.
Mathis, a former point guard for Purcell Marian's 1985 state championship team, spent the previous four years as an assistant at OSU under Jim O'Brien, who was fired June 8 and replaced by Matta.
Mack, a St. Xavier High grad, played at XU from 1991-93 and worked as an assistant at Wake Forest under Skip Prosser for the past three seasons.
Bill Comar, Xavier's director of basketball operations under Matta, will stay on in that capacity, and Mario Mercurio was promoted to director of basketball administration. Comar came to Xavier after stints at the University of Dayton and Miami University.
